Fennel Tea Health Benefits

Fennel tea is an aromatic and savory herbal tea. It is made not from fennel itself; which is part of the celery family, it is actually from the seed of the plant! The bulb, flowers, and seeds can all be used in cooking, but it is the tiny seed that is most often used in traditional medicine. A tiny seed with so many powerful benefits; indeed, fennel is a gift from above! Traditional Ayurvedic Medicine prizes its cleansing properties, as it helps the body’s natural elimination process, and is also fantastic for digestion. It has a savory flavor, similar to anise, or licorice, that blends well in spiced tea blends, or chai blends.

It is naturally rich in vitamins A, B, C and D. Fennel is a great source of antioxidants and amino acids, fatty acids, calcium, iron, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, manganese, potassium and zinc. Fennel tea is safe for children and has so many fantastic properties, which is why it is included in many of our herbal infusions.

Digestive Health

If you are constipated, or struggle with bloat, fennel tea is the simple answer to your problems! It easily reduces acid levels in the stomach and intestines. At the same time, it aids in the treatment of colic, nausea, and rids the intestines of worms and bacteria.

Cleansing

Welcome a healthier and toxin-free life with fennel! It is a natural diuretic, and will help to gently cleanse your body- encouraging the natural elimination process. Fennel tea also increases healthy urine flow and protects your liver from alcohol damage.

Hormonal Balance

Used by midwives for centuries, fennel tea is an excellent tonic to protect the female reproductive system. It stimulates the production of estrogen, thus bringing relief to female hormonal shifts during the numerous seasons of a woman’s life; including PMS, menstrual cramps, and menopause.

It is also known to increase milk production in nursing moms! Though, we suggest to always double check with your doctor, nursing consultant or midwife before making intensive changes to your diet while nursing.

Obesity Fighting Properties

Fennel seed is a natural appetite suppressant, as it helps give the feeling of fullness. If you’re trying to overcome cravings, or unhealthy food choices, fennel tea is a great option for you. It is a natural fat-burner in your body, as it boosts metabolism and breaks down fat in the body.

Who would have thought that such a little seed would pack such a powerful punch! For some new and delicious ways to incorporate more fennel into your diet, try these tea blends out! Cleanse Yourself, Deep Breath, Holistic Health, Weight & Balance to name a few!
