How Tea Prevents and Fights Diabetes

Whether you have type one or type two diabetes, tea is an excellent choice to push yourself toward better health!

When managing diabetes, always follow the advice of your primary healthcare provider!

The keys to managing and fighting diabetes are living a healthy and active lifestyle, regulating your insulin levels, lowering blood glucose... and adding some tea to your day of course!

Green tea is a wonder tonic- we have all heard of its wonders for overall health. Recent studies show that the polyphenols in green tea help regulate glucose in the body, helping to prevent or control diabetes. These green tea polyphenols slow the conversion of starchy carbohydrates such as potatoes and corn into glucose. Green tea also prevents sticky deposits onto the walls of your arteries which contribute to heart disease. Try pure Japanese green teas like Sencha Tenkaichi, Gyokuro Ureshinocha, or a blend such as Raspberry Punch, Magic Moon or Pearl of the Night!

Chai tea and chai blends are full of healthy Ayurvedic and health boosting herbs and spices. Cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom are usually the shining starts of this traditionally black tea based blend; these spices are healthy and balancing. Cinnamon is especially well known to lower blood sugar levels by stimulating insulin levels. Cinnamon is known to not only fight diabetes but it prevents diabetes as well!

Tulsi is a powerful adaptogen, regularly consuming Tulsi tea will increase resistance to stress, fatigue, anxiety and trauma, as it has a calming effect. It naturally pushes your body toward better health! Tulsi is packed with antioxidants and essential oils that help to specifically lower blood sugar levels.

Ginseng tea increases sensitivity of blood sugar to insulin- which transports the sugars to cells for energy. It is known to also fight diabetes associated fatigue as this energizing strong drink keeps you active and on your feet all day long naturally boosting your energy!

Dandelion tea is used in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) as a healing herb for diabetes. Dandelion tea helps to lower the glucose levels in your body. It has powerful cleansing properties, which help to purify the blood, Dandelion Leaf allows the liver to more effectively perform its function.

Licorice root has been hailed as containing natural properties with an anti-diabetic effect. These molecules reduce blood sugar and are anti-inflammatory. Licorice also may prevent diabetes related cataracts! We have blends featuring Licorice root such as White Cloud Detox.
