Stressed Out!

Stress - we all know it, we’ve all felt it. Sometimes a little stress can push us in a positive way, but more often than not, letting stress build up is damaging to our health! Stress can lead to heart disease, weight gain, and depression.

Whether just dealing with the stresses of daily life, or some life-changing major issue comes up, managing our stress is vital. Anxiety and stress are a lot to deal with, and studies show us that stress has a direct impact on our overall health. In today’s blog, we will take a look at stress management and how drinking tea regularly can help you cope with daily stresses.

Make time for self-care; when caught up in the “fight or flight” response of stress, we often forget to slow down and care for ourselves. Plan and schedule time for adequate exercise, to eat a balanced, healthy diet, time for rest, and to expel excess adrenaline. Sometimes finding a little balance and self-care is as easy as taking a walk outside in the fresh air!

Switch out unhealthy beverages; such as coffee, stimulants and sugar-laden drinks! Caffeine and stimulants like alcohol add nervous energy to our bodies, if you switch out your coffee for tea you will notice results. Here are a few suggestions below.

Peppermint’s cooling, refreshing nature makes it a wonderful relaxing brew. The menthol naturally occurring in peppermint is a natural mild muscle relaxant.

Chamomile is world renowned for its relaxation properties. Chamomile is a mild sedative, therefore making its infusion excellent for battling anxious thoughts, mild depression and insomnia.

Rose is a mild sedative and anti-depressant, it is increasingly used in treatments for conditions of stress such as nervous tension, peptic ulcers, and heart disease among others.

True tea (such as green, or black tea) contains powerful antioxidants. Its abundant polyphenols help reduce stress! Though tea does contain certain amounts of caffeine- its adaptogenic nature doesn’t cause the same peak of nervous energy that the caffeine in coffee does. True tea gives you energy- but in a balanced, calming way.

In fact, we have a whole section of calming teas for you to explore. Check them out for some inspirational relaxation!

We aren’t doctors, and we know there can be serious anxiety disorders; follow your physician’s advice and seek professional help when you need it! These are some simple suggestions that we find helpful!
