About chai tea

Traditional Masala Chai is our classic spiced black tea, while Chai Caramel and Pumpkin Spice Chai are sweeter takes. We also make chai on other bases: Rooibos Orange Chai and Coconut Vanilla Chai use caffeine-free rooibos, and Pu'erh Maple Chai uses earthy pu-erh.

For a lower-caffeine cup, try Decaf Masala Chai. Looking for more spice-forward black teas? Browse our black tea blends.

Chai tea FAQ

How do I make a chai latte with loose leaf chai?

Simmer 2 teaspoons of chai in 4 oz of water for 3 to 4 minutes, add 4 oz of milk and a sweetener, and heat until steaming without boiling. Strain into a mug.

Can I brew chai like regular tea?

Yes. Use 1 to 2 teaspoons per 8 oz of boiling water and steep 4 to 5 minutes. Add milk and sweetener to taste; spiced chai is traditionally served that way.

Is there caffeine-free chai?

Yes. Chai blends on a rooibos base, such as Rooibos Orange Chai and Coconut Vanilla Chai, are naturally caffeine-free. Decaf Masala Chai uses decaffeinated black tea, so it is very low in caffeine.

What does chai mean?

Chai simply means tea in Hindi and many other languages. In the US, chai usually refers to masala chai, the spiced milky tea from India.
