Herbal teas, or tisanes, are blends of herbs, flowers, fruits and spices made without the tea plant, so most are naturally caffeine-free.

About herbal tea

Classics include Egyptian Chamomile with its soft apple-like flavor, cooling mint blends like Pacific Coast Mint, and gentle evening blends such as Lullaby.

Browse by type in chamomile tea, hibiscus tea, mint tea and fruit tea, or look at rooibos for another naturally caffeine-free option.

Herbal tea FAQ

Are herbal teas caffeine-free?

Most are, because they contain no leaves from the tea plant. A few blends include green tea, yerba mate or other caffeinated ingredients, so check the ingredient list on each product page.

How do I brew herbal tea?

Use 1 to 2 teaspoons per 8 oz cup and freshly boiled water. Herbal teas need longer than true teas: steep 5 to 7 minutes, and up to 10 for roots, seeds and dried fruit.

Can I make iced tea with herbal blends?

Yes. Brew double strength, then pour over ice, or cold brew 2 to 3 teaspoons per 8 oz of cold water in the fridge for 8 to 12 hours. Fruity and hibiscus blends are especially good iced.

What is the difference between herbal tea and tisane?

Nothing: they are two names for the same thing. Strictly speaking, tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant, so infusions of other plants are called tisanes or herbal infusions.
